A polyester film tape with a silicone adhesive designed specifically for composite bonding and splicing of silicone coated release papers.
Tape 8402 is use for maskign during anodizing and chemical milling and is also used for holding and splicing operations during composite moulding cure cycles. Also suitable for difficult to bond surfaces and extreme temperatures.
The backing has a good internal strength to break through the tough resin flashing. For chemical milling of special alloys (not caustic etching of aluminium) in caustic baths of mild concentrations tape 8402 performs very well.
It resists chemicals, withstands high temperatures, retains flexibility and removes cleanly and in one piece on many chemical milling applications.
The polyester backing and special adhesive are combined as an effective maskant where flat surfaces are involved.
The tough backing also prvides excellent chemical resistance during chemical milling while the silicone adhesive offers excellent bond to metal surfaces which precludes the possibility of chemically undercutting.
Clean removal in one piece of the tape yields a clean adhesive line between parts. |
